Maize Maze 2009

Despite the weather we had another good year, with Superheros Maze.

We also had our first ever dog show and dog agility demonstration, it was so sucessful we are hoping to repeat it on Sunday 18th July. Usually dogs are not permitted in the maze, however on dogs day they are welcome to walk the maze, as well as enter the dog show.
We also had fabulous Sunflower Displays arranged by Westbury on Severn Flower Arrangers, for our sunflower festival. We had lots of difficulties growing the sunflowers, because of rabbits, pheasants and all other creatures taking a liking to our seeds. But we managed to grow some in the end and they looked wonderful
As is now traditional we finished off the season with a fantastic late night special
Mazes by tourchlight, live bands, BBQ, candlelit courtyard and bonfire
With THE BANSHEE

Maize Maze 2008

The theme for 2008 was The Pirates of the High Seas.

The large maze was a pirate ship and the small maze was a skull and crossbones

The maze is a great place to come for a day out, we often do birthday party's, with a group discount or a just a family ticket, it is really good value. The children can play all day while Mum and Dad relax and supervise.

Maize Maze 2007

2007 was the Scouts Centenary year, so we did a special maze with the Scout emblem.

The big maze had a farmyard theme, with the Farmer on his tractor.

We now do a labyrinth as well for those who want the fun of walking through the maze without getting lost.

Maize Maze 2006

We had an exciting fishy underwater theme in 2006

The picnic area was up and running, with drinks, snacks as well as the courtyard activities.

We had trouble with the rabbits eating our sunflower seeds, but we kept trying until we got a good crop, although late in the season.

Maize Maze 2005

2005 was the year of the Mighty Dinosaur Mazes.
Did you find the 15 pictures of the mighty dinosaurs, or find the eggs the 7 dinosaurs laid in the small maze.
The mazes cover 8 acres and are designed with quick exits, so you can take a break for a rest or refreshment and return as many times as you like.

Maize Maze 2004

In 2004 We had a space theme, however we cannot find any photos.
Can anyone out there remember visiting our Maize in 2004, and send us some photos please?

Elton Maize Maze 2003

This was our first Maize Maze and was so sucessful we have had one every year since. Each Autumn the maze is harvested for cattle feed.
A different design is created the following spring in a new crop.

You can see the maize is planted in rows both directions, so it looks like large graph paper, We also have our plan laid out on graph paper, so we can plan this out on the ground. We hoe it out by hand and it takes several people almost a week.
